He Reached Down

A few years back,  a  friend of mine who plays and sings but doesn't feel that he can write songs, asked me to write a song. He threw out a few ideas concerning a life that had gone way off course and and then found God... this is what I came up with....  we never got around to putting music to it, I'm not even sure if it's right for music, but it still has a message for someone..............

........................................................................................................................................................................
There was a time
in the past
when my life,
the way I lived it
moved so fast
And always,
to get where I wanted to be
I just ran over others,
even my Family
I couldn't be happy

No matter how hard I tried
Everything I did
left me unsatisfied
So I kept on searchin'
for something to stoke my pride
All the while
I was dying inside

Chorus

Then my Father God, In all his Majesty
Reached down to put his arms around me
He didn't care what I had done
He was my Father and I was his Son
Yes, He was my Father, and I was his Son

I had to crawl
before I could walk
I had to cry out to him
when I could barely talk
I was the apple of his eye
And I couldn't understand why
Because I was rotten to the core
My seed was sin,
But that was before....

Chorus

My Father God in all of his majesty
Reached down and put his arms around me
He doesn't care what I have done
'Cause He is my Father, and I am his son
Oh Yes, He's my Father and I'm his Son

That fast moving treadmill
that I was on
left little time
for my family and home
I gave into temptations
to drink and roam
But now I'm singin a brand new song

Chorus

'Cause, My Father God with all his Majesty
Reached down, and put his arms around me
He doesn't care what I have done
He is my Father, and I am his Son
Yes, He's my Father and I'm his Son

No, no, I don't run anymore
to appease my foolish pride
Since God slowed me down
to walk by his side
Before I was running,
with no place to go
not knowing that
Jesus loved me so

I was running so hard
from place to place
denying some truths
that I needed to face

Chorus

But that was before You,
My Father God, with all your Majesty
You reached down and put your arms around me
No, You don't care about the things that I've done
'Cause you are my Father and I am your Son.
I'm a new man, since I found that out,
And now I don't have anymore doubts
you are my Father, And I am your Son
Yes You are my Father, and I am your Son.

Nothing Can Compare ~ A Haiku

He gives to us all
More love than we can give back
A Father's true love

A wonderful life

When one has God in their heart
Nothing can compare

What You Do Best

Blue Skies, Green Grass
Birds chirping as they pass

God gave us this perfect day to live
All he asks back, is for us to give

Of ourselves, it's our greatest gift
A smile to give someone's soul lift

Maybe you can say, a kind word in passing
Or make a Friendship, that is lasting

A kind listening Ear,
Reassurance to calm a fear

Help to one who needs assistance
Minister to one who needs Resistance

God gave us talents, to use for the good
But sometimes the word talent is misunderstood

People tend to think, talents have to do with art
And in doing so, Sometimes they don't even start

To try to find out, how good they can be
At doing what they do best, Naturally

Hey, if you've read this far, then read the rest
I'm telling you, your talent, is what you do best

Think about it,
Is there something that you do really good?

You might think it won't help others,
But I bet it would!
