He Reached Down

A few years back,  a  friend of mine who plays and sings but doesn't feel that he can write songs, asked me to write a song. He threw out a few ideas concerning a life that had gone way off course and and then found God... this is what I came up with....  we never got around to putting music to it, I'm not even sure if it's right for music, but it still has a message for someone..............

........................................................................................................................................................................
There was a time
in the past
when my life,
the way I lived it
moved so fast
And always,
to get where I wanted to be
I just ran over others,
even my Family
I couldn't be happy

No matter how hard I tried
Everything I did
left me unsatisfied
So I kept on searchin'
for something to stoke my pride
All the while
I was dying inside

Chorus

Then my Father God, In all his Majesty
Reached down to put his arms around me
He didn't care what I had done
He was my Father and I was his Son
Yes, He was my Father, and I was his Son

I had to crawl
before I could walk
I had to cry out to him
when I could barely talk
I was the apple of his eye
And I couldn't understand why
Because I was rotten to the core
My seed was sin,
But that was before....

Chorus

My Father God in all of his majesty
Reached down and put his arms around me
He doesn't care what I have done
'Cause He is my Father, and I am his son
Oh Yes, He's my Father and I'm his Son

That fast moving treadmill
that I was on
left little time
for my family and home
I gave into temptations
to drink and roam
But now I'm singin a brand new song

Chorus

'Cause, My Father God with all his Majesty
Reached down, and put his arms around me
He doesn't care what I have done
He is my Father, and I am his Son
Yes, He's my Father and I'm his Son

No, no, I don't run anymore
to appease my foolish pride
Since God slowed me down
to walk by his side
Before I was running,
with no place to go
not knowing that
Jesus loved me so

I was running so hard
from place to place
denying some truths
that I needed to face

Chorus

But that was before You,
My Father God, with all your Majesty
You reached down and put your arms around me
No, You don't care about the things that I've done
'Cause you are my Father and I am your Son.
I'm a new man, since I found that out,
And now I don't have anymore doubts
you are my Father, And I am your Son
Yes You are my Father, and I am your Son.

Nothing Can Compare ~ A Haiku

He gives to us all
More love than we can give back
A Father's true love

A wonderful life

When one has God in their heart
Nothing can compare

What You Do Best

Blue Skies, Green Grass
Birds chirping as they pass

God gave us this perfect day to live
All he asks back, is for us to give

Of ourselves, it's our greatest gift
A smile to give someone's soul lift

Maybe you can say, a kind word in passing
Or make a Friendship, that is lasting

A kind listening Ear,
Reassurance to calm a fear

Help to one who needs assistance
Minister to one who needs Resistance

God gave us talents, to use for the good
But sometimes the word talent is misunderstood

People tend to think, talents have to do with art
And in doing so, Sometimes they don't even start

To try to find out, how good they can be
At doing what they do best, Naturally

Hey, if you've read this far, then read the rest
I'm telling you, your talent, is what you do best

Think about it,
Is there something that you do really good?

You might think it won't help others,
But I bet it would!

Mr. Hartzog

A Life well lived
Always something to give,
And never a word to discourage.

Always a kind word
Never wanting to disturb,
Trying always to encourage.

His life, his Love, his Laughter
Have continued to live long after,
The ninety Five years that he spent here.

Totally Full of Grace
Usually cheering others on in life's races,
And never of an enemy did I hear.

He was forever a Friend to others
Considered all, his Sisters and Brothers,
And Loved his Lord with all his Heart.

Never a better Man will be found
Even if you look this world around,
He was one of God's Angels right from the start.

Rainy Days and Poetry

Rainy days and poetry
Well they just kind of go together
That's not the only time I write though
I can write in any kind of weather

Just seems like Inspiring words
Fall on me with every drop of rain
Inspiration abounds Imagination and soul,
a combination, hard to explain

Thoughts rush in so many things to think of, I find
Feelings and emotions
Hopes and dreams
in this literary mind

I put them on paper
For everyone to see
Kinda like searching through my heart
sharing Heartwords of the one I call me.

I hope that in some way you'll find
A Peace within you from the words I write
As I journey through this poetic blend
Of helping words, that God provides.

Come with me now, on this journey
As I search through my Heart, soul, and being,
for words, soul to soul, given by the one
Who's all knowing, and all seeing.

He knows that some of the things that I write
are things others can relate to
Feelings, emotions, , and dreams
to touch the one that he calls you..

The Old Home Place

Stories of Love,
Stories of loss
Old house, Old trees
Limbs heavy with moss,

Days Gone by
Times long past,
Swingin' on the tire swing
High and fast,

Memories flood in
As I get nearer,
Times from my childhood
Remembered, get dearer,

Window panes missin'
Door hangin' on one hinge,
Breezes blow the tattered curtains
By that window was a lamp with fringe,

The squeaky old screen door
Long ago gone,
I can still see Granny standing there
Callin' to us "Ya'll come Home"

Cotton fields on one side
Corn fields on the other,
Runnin' up that old dirt road
With cousins, Sister and Brother,

The smell of Butterbeans, Ham and Biscuits
Wafting through the air,
We each wanted to be the first
To get that cowhide chair,

Old wood bench
A big wooden table so long,
Pie safe in the corner
Man, that Apple pie sure smells strong,

Anticipating all the good tastes
While Grace is being said,
Visions of Pie and whip cream
Dancing through my little head,

As thoughts drifted to after supper
And the fun that we'd have then,
Thoughts of tag, Hide and seek, and chasing Fireflies
Came just before "Amen"

Adults catchin' up on things
That had happened in their lives,
We'd listen with passing interest
All the while watching for the darkening skies

Full moon and Children laughing
On an Alabama Summer's night,
The memories of those times
Still bring me such delight.

That Sandman Guy

It's a battle of wits,
and I just can't win!
That bully, the Sandman
is at it again,

He comes hangin' around late at night,
and what he does, well it just ain't right
Using the element of surprise,
He tosses the magic Dust at my eyes

And if that doesn't work
He whacks my head
Anything to get me
To go to bed.

So here I am
drifting off to dream
Remembering notes, and phone calls
among other things

And in the morning
when I wake up
I'll think about it all,Over my coffee cup

Now as you know
I like to write Rhymes
The good and bad
about my life and times.

And I just couldn't let
This magic night pass by,
without writing a few lines
About that Sandman Guy!

The Roadside Cross

Out earlier and passed several lonely Roadside crosses along my way. The first two lines of this poem came to me, when I got home I sat down and finished it....

A cross beside the road, by someone left,

The memory of a Birth, a Life, A Death

Looking straight ahead, in a focused trance

We pass right by it, without even a glance.

We've gotten so used to seeing these Roadside Shrines,

That often, we don't take the time,

To remember that life can end so fast

That the hugs and kisses this morning, could be our last.

So the next time you see, a cross by the road

Remember that for someone, it represents a heavy Load,

A load shared with others to make it easier to bear

Hoping to make others think twice, when they speed past there.

And if you love someone, always tell them before you go

'Cause sometimes true Feelings, your actions don't show

Then say a little prayer for Loved ones lost

Represented and remembered by a roadside cross.

Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People

Why do bad things happen to people who are good?
Sometimes we just don't understand.... but wish we could

We may ask, "why did this have to happen to me?
After all, I've tried to do good to the maximum degree!"

Things sometimes happen, beyond our control
That shake us to our very soul

We never know from day to day,
What trials and tribulations might come our way

As mortals, in this life we are subject to trials
God doesn't make these things happen, that's just not his style

But you know, he often uses trials to realign us with his plan
To lift us upon that solid rock, and out of sinking sand

At times, he uses them to make us strong
Or give us a sense, of right and wrong

When bad things happen, there's one thing you can be sure of
Our Father God will be there with his unending love

He will give the much needed Grace to survive
Any problem that satan can contrive

We're not promised, an easy life here on Earth
We are subject to the whims of satan, right from our birth

So next time things don't go according to your plan
Don't ask why, just go to the main man

Because he makes good things come out of the bad
He's the Savior, the Father, and the best Friend I've ever had!

It's been a while.....

Oh gosh, what can I say? It's been a while since I've posted on here. I've posted everywhere else, but neglected this blog, So I'm making a promise to myself and to God...... As of today, this blog will be a priority for me, I'm going to post more Manna on it. I hope you will come here often to fill your hunger..... ~Peace~ Nancie

Sometimes Words Can Help

I'm not sure why I feel this way
Some kind of pain everywhere in my body each day

I'd like to think that somewhere
There is someone out there

That can be helped in some small way
By the rhyming words that I write or say

To know that you are not alone
Sometimes makes it easier to get along

With the pain that plagues your body so
At times so bad, that you just can't go

Don't think that no one understands
How hard it is, with life's demands

Because there are others just like you
To give support and help you through

Lord You Are In Control

Precious Jesus, Savior of my soul
To you I give complete control
Control of my life in every way
Even the way I react to things each day
When satan tries to upset me
With things that aren't the way I want them to be
I'll reach for your hand, it's always there
I never have to worry, you go with me everywhere
I can count on you to see me through
Bad situations and bad choices too
And LORD if there's anything I can do for you
I'll gladly perform any task that you want me to do
If I can help someone when they are down and out
By telling them what your love is all about
And how you care what happens to them,
Without you in there life, their future is grim
You can count on me LORD, I'm ready to serve
And I know you're in control when life throws me a curve.

Are you listening

Sometimes if you listen, you can hear
GOD whispering softly in your ear

He is telling you from up above
About his patient and forgiving love

He'll tell you how he's waiting there
For you to show him that you care

Just a prayer to ask him for his help
To get you into him,and out of yourself

He will always provide for your every need
You have to trust him and turn away from your greed

He'll give you strength, that will get you through,
Any situation that satan can throw at you

So listen, listen,to what he has to say
He's telling you how to start over, the christian way.

We Are Blessed

Be thankful for what you get
It all comes from God above
He always sends us blessings
Out of his unwavering Fatherly love

No one has the knowledge to predict
What our tomorrows are going to bring
One day you are flying on top of the world
The next day you could lose everything

Praise God for every day that He gives you
Good health and that of your children
And that you have a wonderful family
Who sticks by you through thick and thin

So next time you think you have problems
No matter what kind they may be
Think about many, who have so much less than you
Remember and say to yourself, " God has been good to me!"

Friends Fill A Special Need

A friend is someone who makes you smile
A friend is someone who'll go that extra mile
A friend is there when somethin' makes you cry
A friend will hold your hand without asking why
And when you're ready to talk they're there
With a listening ear because they care
A friend will laugh with you when times are good
They will never laugh at you, when others would
A friend stands by you when the going gets tough
They'll help you walk away when you've had enough
And when at times you need a helping hand
You don't have to ask, they'll be there if they can
Friends can talk with their eyes to each other
They're as close to you as your sisters and brothers
Yes, friendship is a special relationship indeed
God puts friends together to fill a special need
And you never know when you meet someone new
God may have sent them for you to be a friend to.

My Gift

I have a God given talent
That I've known about for so long
I just never thought it good enough
But it seems that I was wrong.
I've written for years about the tears
From all the pain along the way
It seemed to vent my feelings
But my focus changed one day.
One Sunday while getting ready for church
God gave me the words and the lines came
I sat right down on my couch
And wrote a poem praising his name
Those words,they came so easy
It was as if God was speaking to me
But still I didn't realize
What the impact on my life would be
Needless to say,I missed church that day
As the rain came down outside
I sat there and wrote two more poems
God was changing me inside.
I knew that He was there with me
Speaking through my pen in hand
I had been so long on another path
And He was leading me back again.
Since that day I have written more
Each time that God inspires me
I'm not sure if they're right for song
But maybe I can help someone to believe
That my God who cares so much
About everyone and everything
Will change their life and make it better
While giving it a whole new meaning.
